For laser hair removal, we use Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) technology to target pigment under the skin. IPL works by emitting light energy that is absorbed by melanin, which is the pigment responsible for the colour of your hair and skin. The light energy is then converted to heat that damages the hair follicle to prevent hair growth.

This hair removal treatment is most effective on individuals with lighter skin tones and darker hair because of the contrast between the skin and hair. The darker pigment in the hair absorbs the light more efficiently, allowing the treatment to precisely target the follicle without affecting the surrounding skin.

Blanc Skin hair removal treatments are ideal for anyone looking to achieve long-term hair reduction on the face or body, especially if you're done with temporary solutions. However, you may not be suitable for intense pulsed light laser hair removal if you have/are:

  • Metal or other implants in the treatment area
  • Active skin issues in the treatment area (e.g., eczema, psoriasis, or rashes)
  • A history of skin conditions like keloids or slow-healing wounds
  • Pregnant or breastfeeding
  • Recently undergone surgery (within the last three months)
  • A current or past history of cancer
  • Conditions triggered by light (e.g., epilepsy) or heat (e.g., herpes)
  • Poorly managed endocrine disorders like diabetes or polycystic ovary syndrome
  • Tattoos or permanent makeup in the treatment area
  • Skin that is excessively tanned

If you're unsure whether you meet the criteria for intense pulsed light laser hair removal treatment, our team is here to guide you. We'll conduct a thorough assessment of your medical history and skin type. This ensures your safety and helps us tailor the best approach for optimal results.

IPL Hair Removal is effective for many skin types. However, a consultation is required to assess your skin and hair type to ensure the best possible outcome.

For darker skin tones, the higher melanin levels in the skin can compete with the melanin in the hair, increasing the risk of discolouration or burns. That's why IPL treatments for darker skin tones require more cautious settings and sometimes additional test patches to ensure safety and effectiveness. This treatment is also less effective on very light hair because it lacks enough pigment to absorb the light.

To determine whether IPL is suitable for your skin and hair type, we recommend a consultation and patch test at our Perth laser hair removal clinic. One of our specialists can perform a test spot and monitor your skin's reaction over 15 minutes to 48 hours to ensure the best treatment plan tailored to your needs while prioritising safety and effectiveness.

Possibly! If you're treating a smaller area, it can take as little as 15-30 minutes. For larger areas like both legs, IPL laser hair removal sessions may take up to an hour.

The number of treatments varies based on individual needs, but most clients see significant results after 6-8 sessions.

Typically, 6-10 treatments per area are required. Results of laser hair removal vary since hair growth cycles and rates differ for everyone and depend on the area being treated.

IPL is most effective during the anagen phase or the active hair growth stage when the hair is still attached to the follicle. However, not all hairs are in this phase at the same time, which is why multiple sessions are necessary to target hair effectively as it cycles through different growth stages.

The exact number of treatments you’ll need also depends on other factors, including your hair type, colour, and thickness, as well as the area being treated. For example, areas with finer hair or slower hair growth, like the upper lip, may require fewer sessions compared to areas with coarser or denser hair, like the legs or bikini line.

We can tailor a schedule that aligns with your hair growth cycle, typically spacing treatments 4-8 weeks apart to ensure maximum effectiveness.

IPL laser hair removal sessions are spaced 4-6 weeks apart for facial treatments and 4-8 weeks apart for the body.

Most clients describe the sensation as a mild snap, similar to the feeling of a rubber band on the skin. Our advanced technology minimises discomfort during the treatment. While the treatment is generally comfortable, you may feel some discomfort in sensitive areas like the bikini line. If it's too intense, let us know so we can adjust the settings.

You'll feel a brief heat sensation, similar to a light snap of an elastic band, but the built-in cooling system quickly minimises discomfort.

Avoid tanning at least 2 weeks before your laser hair removal appointment, and stop using any products that might irritate your skin 2-3 days before treatment. On the day of your session, make sure your skin is clean and do not apply lotions, creams, or makeup or wear jewellery around the treatment area.

Treatment time depends on the area. For example, an upper lip session is quick, while treating both legs will take longer.

Your skin might feel a bit dry or itchy due to the dry shave beforehand. Applying moisturiser can help. Otherwise, you shouldn't feel significantly different after your treatment.

Some people experience long-term results, while others may require occasional touch-ups to maintain smooth skin. The results of IPL laser hair removal depend on your hair growth cycle.
