TREATMENT INFORMATION

Dermaplaning, also known as epidermal levelling or blading, is a gentle yet effective exfoliation technique that helps improve your skin’s texture and tone. By using a skilled blading method with a sterile, single-use blade, we remove the outer layer of dead skin cells along with the fine vellus hair commonly referred to as ‘peach fuzz’. The result is skin that feels incredibly soft and looks noticeably clearer and more radiant.

This treatment does more than simply refresh the skin. It also encourages collagen production, allows your skincare products to penetrate more effectively, and creates a smooth base for flawless makeup application. It is an ideal treatment for special occasions or simply when your skin needs a pick-me-up.

Suitable for all skin types, including sensitive complexions, dermaplaning is especially helpful for patients with blonde facial hair that cannot be treated with a laser. For those seeking even more impressive results, we recommend pairing dermaplaning with a booster, such as a light lactic peel, LED light therapy, and a hyaluronic acid peptide mask.

At Blanc Skin, we have seen firsthand how transformative dermaplaning can be. It is a complete skin refresh that leaves you with a healthy, vibrant look without any downtime.

One of the main reasons our patients return time and again for dermaplaning Perth WA is because the results are immediate and noticeable. From the first treatment, your skin will appear brighter, smoother, and more even in tone.

Dermaplaning gives your face a fresh, fuzz-free appearance that enhances the way makeup sits on your skin. It reduces skin congestion and helps to prevent the formation of milia by thoroughly removing dead skin and surface debris. Many patients find that regular dermaplaning helps diminish the appearance of fine lines, giving their face a softer, more youthful glow.

Another often-overlooked benefit is how well your skincare products will work after the treatment. With the barrier of dead skin gone, active ingredients are absorbed better, making your daily routine even more effective.

Individual results may vary.

What skin concerns can dermaplaning help with?

Dermaplaning is effective for improving the look and feel of skin affected by acne scars, dryness, fine lines, freckles, hyperpigmentation, congestion, milia, and sun damage. It also enhances the appearance of ageing skin and uneven texture.

How does the treatment work?

A patented blade is used to carefully remove dead skin cells and fine vellus hair from the face. This allows skincare products to work more effectively and gives your skin a refreshed appearance.

What does the skin look and feel like afterwards?

Immediately after your dermaplaning facial treatment, your skin will feel smooth and hydrated with no harsh redness or extended downtime.

Is dermaplaning painful?

No. It is a comfortable, painless treatment that can easily be done during your lunch break. Many patients are surprised by how relaxing the process feels.

How long does the treatment take?

A typical session runs for about 30 to 45 minutes, depending on your skin’s condition and the specific treatment plan we create for you.

Are there any side effects?

Some patients may notice slight pinkness due to increased circulation, but this generally fades quickly. We always discuss your skin’s sensitivity beforehand to ensure a smooth experience.

Can I combine dermaplaning with other treatments?

Absolutely. Dermaplaning pairs beautifully with other treatments, such as skin peels, anti-wrinkle injections, and LED therapy. It can actually boost their effectiveness by preparing the skin for deeper penetration of active ingredients.

How often should I book a dermaplaning appointment?

To maintain your results, we suggest booking a treatment every two to four weeks, depending on your goals and how quickly your skin regenerates.

Although dermaplaning is non-invasive and typically gentle, it is normal for your skin to feel slightly dry and sensitive or appear a little pink immediately after. You might notice some flaking, light peeling, or superficial marks during the healing phase, but these tend to resolve quickly.

To support recovery, avoid picking, rubbing, or touching the treated area unnecessarily. Your skin will be more delicate than usual, so treat it with care.

For 24 hours after your treatment, steer clear of direct sun exposure, intense exercise, hot showers or steam, and other skin treatments, such as laser or microdermabrasion. Also, avoid chlorinated pools, tanning, and skincare products with AHAs, BHAs, retinoids, and hydroquinone for at least three days post-treatment.

Prepare your skin correctly to make the most of your dermaplaning facial Perth. If you are currently using prescription products containing Retin-A or hydroquinone, we advise stopping their use one week before your appointment.

The same applies to products with active resurfacing ingredients, such as Alpha Hydroxy Acids (AHAs), Beta Hydroxy Acids (BHAs), and retinol. Pause usage three days prior and wait three days post-treatment to resume.

If you have been out in the sun recently, it is important that your skin is not sunburnt at the time of treatment. And, for those who are prone to cold sores, we recommend taking a preventative treatment beforehand to reduce the chance of an outbreak.

To support your skin’s resilience and enhance the results, we suggest preparing with Vitamin A and Vitamin C. Using skincare ranges such as Cosmedix, and Aspect  on a daily basis will help your skin respond more favourably to the treatment.

For individuals with deeper complexions or a history of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, incorporating a melanin-inhibiting skin regimen at least two weeks ahead of your appointment will also help improve results and minimise any risk.

All treatments carry potential risks. These will be discussed in detail during your consultation to determine suitability for your individual needs. Treatments are performed by qualified and trained nurses, who will explain expected recovery times, possible side effects and any aftercare required so you know what to expect.
