Switch to a gentle, non-foaming cleanser
During winter, your skin tends to be a little more sensitive as it’s exposed to extreme temperatures (cold weather and hot heaters). Cleansers that are too harsh on the skin will strip it of essential oils and disrupt the skin’s barrier. Switch to something a little more nourishing and gentle that will cleanse effectively, but also replenish moisture levels. We love the Medik8 Lipid Balance Cleansing Oil, super nourishing and hydrating - smells divine too!
Drink up
You’d be surprised how much less water you drink in winter. Our skin relies on adequate water consumption for that noticeable glow so keep a water bottle on hand throughout the day and sip on herbal tea, which your body will love on those super chilly days!
Layer up
Invest in a more occlusive moisturiser which will keep skin soothed and comfortable and help to prolong that summer glow! For bonus points, layer up with a hydrating serum to really boost hydration. I find the Medik8 Hydr8 B5 Intense Serum perfect for layering underneath a nourishing night cream.
Treat your skin to some advanced therapies
Surely you don’t need much convincing to book yourself in for a facial or a chemical peel but when the weather changes, it’s more important than ever to stick to a consistent regime of treatments for best results. Book in some time with one of our dermal therapists and get your skin on track with a treatment plan of facials, peels, omnilux light therapy, skin needling or resurfacing. It’s the perfect time to experiment with more intense treatments too such as Tribella, Aquagold or Dermapen as we tend to hibernate a bit more during the rainy, miserable weather - meaning you can recover without FOMO!
Don’t forget your body
Your arms and legs may be covered up for three months, but they still need attention! Start dry body brushing before your morning or evening shower to slough away dead skin cells. After showering, lather your limbs in a rich body oil or moisturiser and say hello to smooth, glowing skin.
