SCLEROTHERAPY - SPIDER AND VARICOSE VEIN TREATMENT

Sclerotherapy is a minimally invasive procedure that involves a natural chemical being injected into the identified vein or veins. This chemical causes the wall of the vein/s to collapse, before the vein is able to dissolve.

TREATMENT INFORMATION

Before your sclerotherapy treatment with one of our cosmetic injectors at Blanc Skin, it’s important to avoid any medications that may thin your blood, such as Aspirin. We would also recommend eating a light meal or snack before the procedure.

If you would like to shave your legs before your treatment, we would recommend doing this the night before and avoid using any lotions or moisturisers to ensure your legs are dry.

This procedure is relatively quick and usually only lasts for up to half an hour. You may feel some discomfort during the procedure as the area is treated with a fine needle. The number of veins that may be injected during one procedure will depend on the size and location of the veins, though this will be discussed during a consultation with one of our cosmetic injectors.

Sclerotherapy is an outpatient procedure, meaning you’ll be able to leave afterwards. You should wear a stocking or tubigrip bandage for up to 7 days after the procedure, meaning you’ll need to cover it with a clean plastic bag while you’re in the shower.

We would recommend going for a walk within one-to-two hours after receiving the injection and wait a minimum of 24 hours before exercising. It is also normal to experience some bruising for up to six weeks after the initial injection, and in some cases, it can take up to three months before you start to see results.

Both sclerotherapy and laser vein removal work to achieve the same goal - closing veins. While sclerotherapy does this through the injection of a natural chemical, laser removal uses light energy to irritate the vein and cause it to close.

Sclerotherapy is often considered as being the best treatment for superficial spider veins and varicose veins. This is because it is often cheaper, faster and achieves more effective results than laser treatment. However, there may be instances and concerns that are best treated with laser removal, so it’s best to discuss your options in a consultation.

As a general rule, you’ll need to wait approximately six weeks after your first lot of sclerotherapy injections before undergoing another set of treatment.

This depends on the individual. Many people choose sclerotherapy as their treatment of choice when they want to get rid of varicose and/or spider veins, and the decision is usually cosmetic/appearance-based.

Before proceeding with sclerotherapy as a treatment for varicose and/or spider veins, we require an initial consultation. This is to confirm that sclerotherapy is the best form of treatment to address your concerns and ensure you feel comfortable heading into the procedure.

  • The initial consultation fee is $100.00
  • A 30-minute session of sclerotherapy treatment is priced at $600.00.
