THREAD LIFT

As we age, it is only natural for the tissues in our face to descend and lose volume. This is due to several factors, such as the weakening of the
muscles and ligaments and a decrease in collagen production.

Understandably, facial surgery can be a daunting prospect for some and isn’t always necessary. For this reason, we offer a alternative, non-surgical solution for facial rejuvenation, such as a thread lift.

BY CONCERN

A thread lift uses a thread placed just under the skin to lift and reposition the skin, effectively reversing any sagging or drooping. The goal of a thread lift is to pull the skin back slightly in order to tighten the face and create a more youthful appearance.

Patients can often see a noticeable difference after the procedure, but the best results can usually be seen 3-4 weeks after the procedure.

The immediate effect of a thread lift procedure is the lifting of the skin and soft tissues of the face. In the longer term, the sutures are resorbed and new collagen production is stimulated, helping to improve the quality and thickness of the skin.  A Thread lift provokes the body’s healing response, which is what causes the skin to produce more collagen and strengthen itself.

Common areas we offer for treatment include the jowl lines (hanging skin around the jawline), Nasolabial lines (also known as laughter lines around
the corners of the mouth), midface ptosis (loss of volume around the middle of the face), and turkey neck (sagging and creased around the neck).

A thread lift is an excellent non-surgical alternative for both men and women who are aged between 30 and 60 years old.

The best way to find out if this is the right treatment for you is to book a consultation with Dr Sam. During your consultation, we will be able to provide you with further detail about what is involved in the procedure and what your likely outcome will be.

Patients can often see a noticeable difference after the procedure, but the best results can usually be seen 3-4 weeks after the procedure. The threads themselves last in the tissue for approximately 12-15 months and the combined effect of the mechanical lift and collagen stimulation lasts up to 3 years although this varies with different individuals.

A thread lift usually only requires around two days of recovery time. This is far shorter than that of a facelift, which usually has a recovery time of at least four weeks.

While you may experience some soreness and swelling after your thread lift, this is usually well tolerated. In fact, most patients usually only require mild painkillers to reduce these discomforts. After your treatment, you can immediately return to work and other daily activities.

All medical procedures, both invasive and non-invasive, carry a certain amount of risks. After the procedure, you may experience the following side effects, all of which are usually mild and temporary:

  • Bleeding
  • Bruising
  • Mild pain
  • Swelling

The threads are placed under the skin with local anaesthetic applied. They exert an initial mechanical lift, which forms approximately 10-15% of the lift. The remainder and majority of the tightening effect is created by the collagen stimulation effect of the thread lifts themselves.

This collagen stimulation effectively improves over a 3-12 month period following the procedure. Meaning results are subtle and gradually enhance your appearance over a few months.

A thread lift is usually performed under a local anaesthetic, which will numb the treatment area and prevent pain during the procedure.
